The biggest difference is probably our business model, free from any conflict of interest. It makes it impossible for us to earn more by paying less to our members.
In practice it means we take 25% of your monthly premium, and use it to improve the product and experience. The rest, 75%, goes to a common claims pool used to compensate claims. Any money left in that pool by the end of the year is donated to Milkywire, a non-profit platform battling climate change through local changemakers.

Yes. With growing uncertainties around the world, Hedvig is now making sure refugees are covered by their home insurance, without any extra cost, when offered housing by any of Hedvigs members.
Through a simple message in the Hedvig app, all members can extend their home insurance so that it covers refugees living under their roof, at no extra cost. The broadening service is available throughout Scandinavia as Hedvig is available in both Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
The co-insurance is valid as in a first step of 3 months and for people who are not yet registered in Sweden. However, this does not apply to members who provide housing for rent or compensation from, for example, a municipality.
Absolutely, your insurance can be cancelled at anytime.
You can email or chat with us in the Hedvig app to tell us what date you want to cancel your insurance.
When canceling your insurance, at the middle of the month, we only charge for the days up until the cancellation date, eg: you cancel Hedvig the 15th, then we charge the first 15 days on the 27th the same month.
Students get 20% off the Home Contents Insurance until they are not a student anymore. The student discount is available to higher education students living and studying in Denmark, verified by the CPR number (personal registration number).
The student discount is valid for students (18-30 years) with an apartment size of 5-100 sqm.
The discount can be applied to you and one co-insured, maximum of two people registered at the same address.
Tell others about Hedvig and lower your premium. When someone signs up with Hedvig with your link or code, you both receive a 10 DKK discount on your monthly payment.
This means that if you invite enough friends, you can get free home insurance for life.

When your claim is approved, we’ll make a payment directly into your account. Depending on your bank, it takes 2-5 days.
You can get reimbursed for the market value of your items. Don’t expect to get paid exactly what you bought the product for.
As you probably know, most items lose value over time, some even lose a lot of value almost immediately, eg. clothes.
For the majority of all items, there is a chart showing how much percentage of the purchasing price an item is worth from one year to another. Some claims even has fixed compensation, eg. psychological support or legal protection.
Our standard deductible is 1500 DKK.
